Job Description

This job includes inspecting products for conformance to customer specifications. The goal of the inspector is to detect and prevent nonconforming product from being released to the customer. This task involves obtaining and recording data from incoming materials, in-process inspections, and finished product, compiling inspection reports and interacting with customer representatives.

The inspector may use equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gage pins, comparators. height gages, indicators, thread gauges, CMMs and other measuring equipment. It is the inspector’s responsibility to only use calibrated devices to verify dimensions for product acceptance. To maintain product quality the inspector must be able to read blueprints, use standard measuring devices, follow production procedures and instructions, and record information as required. Inspectors mark, tag, or note problems on products per company procedures. Inspectors document all nonconforming product in the Simpletrak NCR portal. If the product is acceptable, the inspector certifies it.

Materials inspectors check products by sight, or feel to locate imperfections such as cuts, scratches, and missing pieces.

Maintain traceability requirements in inspection documentation to monitoring and measuring devices. (ISO 9001)

Maintains documented information per control of documented information procedures.

May conduct first article inspection (FAI) process or use appropriate sampling techniques, in-process, receiving, or final inspections per company procedure.

Parts of this job will require the individual to travel to other locations for ISO 9001 audits and site level inspections.

Qualifications

0-2 years of inspection experience (or equivalent) prefeered

Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering (preferred). Similar degrees accepted.

Experience in Quality control or Manufacturing is preferred.
